Snow Leopard Drone Project Coordinator
Katie Christofferson is a San Diego native, who often spent much of her childhood at the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park. When she decided to take the plunge to pursue professional animal care, she spent a lot of time volunteering to gain experience. She learned the delicate art of trust based training with free flight birds and falconry, and developed all of the skills necessary for keeping exotic species in a zoo. She currently works at the Safari Park in the Mammal department with a special interest in big cats. She joined Global Conservation Force when they announced their partnership with the Snow Leopard Conservancy and Rocky Mountain Cat Conservancy in building drones to be flown in Nepal for snow leopard conservation. Eager to be involved, she signed on as the drone project coordinator, holding fundraisers to raise money for the drones and working closely with the SLC to spread the message of the snow leopard’s plight in Nepal and Mongolia.
