All 5 rhino species are facing the threat of extinction within our lifetimes due to poaching and illegal wildlife trafficking. Rhinos are being killed by poachers at a rate of just over 3 a day. Help support the anti-poaching units that are protecting these amazing animals.
Anti-poaching teams are specially trained in tactical defense to locate poachers and stop them in their tracks, literally! By adopting a ranger, you’re helping to provide patrol gear, as well as tactical and medical training.
The mounted anti-poaching unit project is just one faction of a comprehensive plan that is coming together to protect rhino in the Eastern cape area of South Africa. Donations help support the horses and provide rangers with gear and training.
With their speed, natural hunting instincts, and incredible sense of smell, K9s are proving to be helpful partners to anti-poaching units across Africa. Donations help cover daily care, veterinary care, training, and gear needed to develop and maintain a successful K9 anti-poaching ranger.
The predominant problem facing Asian and African elephants today is ivory poaching. Currently, 100 elephants are poached per day: that’s an elephant every 15 minutes. Current poaching rates exceed natural elephant birth rates. At this rate, African elephants may be extinct by 2020. Your donation will help support anti-poaching units that are protecting this keystone species.
Over one million pangolins have been poached in the last decade, significantly more than the number of elephants, rhinos, and giraffe poached in the same time period combined. As a result of the dramatic decline in pangolin populations and the rapidly increasing demand for their meat, scales and other products, there has been significant attention given to protecting pangolins.
Giraffe are in serious trouble, facing what many wildlife experts call a “silent extinction.” This silent extinction is caused by a simple lack in scientific tracking of populations size, habitat loss and monitoring of poaching statistics. Global Conservation Force assists multiple anti-poaching units with customized patrol gear and specialized technology.
The African Painted Dog is a unique predator that once ranged most of the continent of Africa. One of two crepuscular/diurnal predators in Africa, they are more at risk of extinction than the big cats of Africa.
Saiga antelope are currently facing a serious threat of extinction via poaching, and by consumer demand, which are the same as the demands for rhino horn.
Drones offer a non-invasive and more affordable way to provide population censusing, habitat assessment, and can provide mapping of human influence in known snow leopard ranges.
