The Amakhala Game Reserve rhino monitor just received a brand new quad-bike!
We are excited to make the announcement that the quad is in action to help better research and protect rhino in South Africa.
Earlier this year, Roxane Losey, GCF Mounted Anti Poaching Units Coordinator, applied for the annual conservation grant hosted by the LA Zoo – Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. Despite this years’ major financial challenges, faced by all, they accepted the amount requested and granted us $5000 (US) towards the purchase of the brand new quad! The rest of of the funds ($1800) needed for the purchase were covered by funds raised at the 5th Annual Global Conservation Force Wildlife Conservation Dinner.
Thank you all for your dedicated support! This quad serves as a multi tool to aid in research, daily monitoring, anti poaching efforts, and greater daily visual coverage for conservation and guest activities. A huge win for the reserve and anti poaching unit during a time where vehicle budgets and fuel budgets have been cut or drastically reduced.
