Mounted Unit Community Kids Meet n Greet

In addition to our core patrol and rhino monitoring operations, there have been some special moments and opportunities co-created with our community friends in partnership with the Kariega Foundation.

In this case, a group of KTM soccer players had an information afternoon with the @globalconservationforce Mounted Unit. For many of these young men it was their first interaction with a horse and this career opportunity. The current Mounted Unit Rangers are all community members who have become true role models.

The Kariega Foundation coaches had the pleasure of distributing many ‘pack for a purpose’ donations from Kariega Game Reserve guests. Thank you to the Earthstompers group the donation of blankets and groceries, which really warmed the hearts and tummy’s of many families in need.

Four of our grade 11 learners were selected for the RYLA Leadership Summit, with all costs covered by the Foundation. Well done! You make us very proud.

Nomawethu Ngangqu penned these beautiful words that convey the impact of our collective efforts:

“The Kariega Foundation and it’s supporters is a parent to the children who lost their parents or have parents who are alive but do not take care of them. You are children to older people who are neglected by their own children. A support to the families that need support and encouragement. You turn houses into nice warm homes. You are light to those who are in darkness. You are breaking down the huge difference between the rich and the poor.”
