…come hear what they have to say!
Deep in the heart of central Africa lives a relatively unknown species—the forest elephant. In spite of its size, the forest elephant is difficult to find. Scientists from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Elephant Listening Project have been recording forest elephant sounds for the last 20 years to find out how elephants use the forest and to save them.
Katy Payne and her team at the Elephant Listening Project blazed the trail for elephant listening studies on the African savanna. The team’s world-famous work is now the subject of Eavesdropping on Elephants: How Listening Helps Conservation by Patricia Newman.
Join us in welcoming Patricia to our family-friendly November Global Conservation Force event. She will share the elephants’ story, the path to publication, and plenty of elephant photos and videos from the scientists’ field work. Bring the kids and purchase an autographed copy of Eavesdropping on Elephants! A portion of proceeds from all book sales will be donated to GCF’s Operation Kenya elephant conservation efforts.
We hope to see you there!
