Snow Leopard Drone Project & Fundraiser

Global Conservation Force has partnered with the Snow Leopard Conservancy and Rocky Mountain Cat Institute to bring the science of felid conservation to new heights with the introduction of an unmanned aerial system.

Drones offer a non-invasive and more affordable way to provide population censusing, habitat assessment, and can provide mapping of human influence in known snow leopard ranges.  The SLC has been expertly tracking and researching snow leopards, and with the addition of unmanned drones, they will have the tools to be even more successful.

The Snow Leopard Conservancy has been extensively involved in snow leopard conservation efforts and population research for almost 20 years.  They have worked to help establish community-based eco-tourism to aid as an alternative source of income to offset the financial burden snow leopards may place on households.  The SLC has developed livestock predator-proofing programs for herders as well as being a leader in radio-tracking and trail camera monitoring.  With all of the ground breaking data that’s being collected, there are still many disadvantages to the current technology.

Join us at Booze Brothers Brewery, August 23rd from 4pm t0 9pm, in Vista, Ca, for a fun evening dedicated to raising funds to help save snow leopards!
