Remote Mounted Anti-Poaching Unit (MAPU) Patrols

The full suite of Mounted Unit Operations is in full swing. Just in time for the uptick in rhino poaching cases. With the new GCF MAPU trailer finished and at the GCF-Kariega anti-poaching unit base, GCF Lead Mounted Unit Instructor has been busy training the horses for transport to respond to areas in need of better coverage and backup.

Today our Mounted Unit deployed to a section along the busman’s river and busted a group illegally camping along the river, within the reserve boundaries.
