Become an Anti-Poaching Ranger in Africa

The Global Conservation Force Introduction To Anti-Poaching Training Course is custom tailored to train competent, efficient, and effective wildlife protection and conservation professionals. Trainees for this course will endure a physically demanding and mentally challenging 4 week course aimed to serve the real needs of wildlife protection field. This course is not for the faint of heart, and the preparation should be treated similar to a military or law enforcement bootcamp.

The competition for the application process is extremely competitive as we receive hundreds of requests to join our team annually. Please follow every step so as not to be removed from the selection process due to an incomplete application. Trainees will finish the course with an Introduction to Anti Poaching Course Certification and a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care Certification.

We are allowing 4 external application spots to each course. 12 previously selected South African resident spots will be filled for each course prior to the start by our partners. This fulfills our annual commitment to train local community selected young adults, ages 18 to 25. Each course will have a maximum of 16 total recruits to provide quality training.

K9 Professional Development Program

This Global Conservation Force K9 Anti-Poaching Units Program is tailored to provide hands on experience and training in the field of K9 Conservation. Participants will learn the skill sets, and participate in the daily duties, of animal training, care, animal welfare, K9 anti poaching operations and duties and in situ conservation. Volunteers will find themselves in the daily operations of working with a GCF K9 team. Experiencing true “training for a purpose”, and you will have contributed to the conservation mission we serve at Global Conservation Force.

This program includes accommodation, with wifi, two meals a day, transportation from the lodge to the kennels daily, field trips as part of the K9 training, and the potential for other in-situ conservation projects.

Program participants will be required to cover their own international airfare and local travel to the project site. Assistance booking these details can be arranged by the GCF K9 Anti Poaching Units Projects Coordinator once approved to join the program.

Program participants are responsible for bringing their own cell phone, and cell service coverage, equipment and outdoor gear.

Mounted Anti Poaching Unit Professional Development Program

This Global Conservation Force Mounted Anti-Poaching Unit Project is tailored to improve your animal care, anti poaching, and conservation skillset. Volunteers will find themselves in the daily throws of animal husbandry, conservation activities, and horse back riding, getting hands-on working with the GCF mounted anti poaching team. Experiencing true “training for a purpose” , you will have you invested in the conservation mission we serve at Global Conservation Force.

This course will include accommodation, pickup/dropoff from the Port Elizabeth airport, hands on conservation activities, horse back patrol duties, horse care and training, and has the potential for wildlife veterinary procedures and community based conservation projects.

Program participants are responsible for their international transportation, bringing their own cell phone services, equipment and outdoor gear.
