Meet Anna, GCF’s Newest Conservation Ambassador

Global Conservation Force (GCF) is thrilled to welcome Anna Dimitriadis as our newest Conservation Ambassador. A BAFTA-nominated wildlife filmmaker, presenter, and storyteller, Anna brings a wealth of experience and passion for conservation to our community. From icy Antarctic waters to the grasslands of Africa, she has dedicated her career to capturing the beauty and challenges of wildlife, while highlighting the people protecting it.

A Childhood of Curiosity and Adventure

Anna’s love for wildlife grew from a childhood steeped in adventure. “As a kid, I wanted to be a spy,” she recalls. “I’d spend hours on the beach or in the garden with a rucksack full of ‘spy gear,’ convinced I was uncovering secret worlds. That energy never left me, I just grew up and channeled it into observing animals instead of people.” Her early fascination with storytelling led her to filmmaking as a teenager, and that curiosity remains at the heart of her work. “I’m still that seven-year-old, peering into the wild with wide eyes, though she’d probably lose her mind if she saw the equipment I get to use now!”

A Turning Point in Conservation

Anna’s passion for conservation deepened during a diving trip in Greece at age 12. “I expected vibrant coral reefs like the documentaries I grew up watching,” she explains. “But I found desolate, damaged landscapes. That gap between what should exist and what little remained stayed with me.” As she filmed wildlife professionally, she saw the human impact on animals and habitats everywhere. “It stopped being just a love of wildlife, it became a responsibility. If I’m going to spend my life documenting these places, I also need to fight for their survival.”

A Career of Storytelling and Impact

Anna’s work takes her to some of the most remote corners of the globe: diving under Antarctic icebergs, tracking pumas in Patagonia, and filming cheetahs in the Okavango Delta. Her role blends cinematography, drone and underwater work, thermal tech, and on-camera presenting.

“Storytelling can shift perspectives and inspire people to care,” she says. “That purpose sits at the center of everything I do.” Her dedication has earned her multiple series credits on Big Cats 24/7 for BBC2 and PBS, as well as a BAFTA nomination.

But Anna measures success not only by awards, but by impact. Filming forest elephants in the Central African Republic, she met a former poacher who became an eco-guard. “Moments like that make you understand how the whole chain of action works. Conservation isn’t just about protecting wildlife, it’s about supporting people before desperation forces their hand.”

Championing Women and Representation

Anna is particularly passionate about highlighting women in conservation. “Female conservationists and rangers are still underrepresented, yet they’re leading patrols, running research projects, and protecting wildlife with incredible resilience,” she says. “Representation isn’t just important, it changes the story.”

Joining Forces with GCF

What drew Anna to GCF? “Action. So much of conservation relies on words and good intentions, but GCF is out there doing the hard, human work, training rangers, supporting communities, and actively protecting wildlife every single day.”

Her experience in the field, commitment to storytelling, and focus on uplifting underrepresented voices align perfectly with GCF’s mission. As an ambassador, she’s especially excited to support initiatives in ranger training, community engagement, and programs empowering women in conservation.

A Message to Supporters

Anna encourages anyone who wants to make a difference to start where they are. “Real impact comes from tangible action. Volunteer, learn, support ranger programs, share stories, use your voice. You don’t need a fancy science degree to make a difference, you just have to choose to act.”

Her story is a testament to the power of stepping forward. “Change doesn’t come from sitting at home feeling powerless. It comes from showing up, saying yes, and refusing to believe that one person can’t make an impact.”

At the heart of Anna’s work is a simple truth: the future of wildlife depends on us, and on our willingness to act. We are proud to have her join the GCF family and help drive meaningful change for both people and wildlife around the world.
