• Poaching for horn: Rhino horn, highly valued in black markets for traditional medicine and as a status symbol, has fueled devastating levels of illegal killing.

• Habitat loss: Expanding agriculture, human settlements, and infrastructure continue to fragment and reduce rhino habitats.

• Climate pressures: Shifts in rainfall, vegetation, and droughts further strain rhino populations.

Today, some rhino species number only in the dozens, while others hover precariously around just a few thousand individuals in the wild.

How Global Conservation Force Protects Rhinos

At Global Conservation Force (GCF), rhino conservation is at the heart of our mission. We work alongside partners and frontline rangers to defend rhinos where they are most at risk. Our programs focus on:

• Ranger Training & Support – We train, equip, and mentor anti-poaching units across Africa, giving rangers the tools and skills they need to keep rhinos safe.

• K9 Units – Our highly trained working dogs track poachers, detect weapons and wildlife contraband, and protect reserves.

• Wildlife Veterinary & Rehabilitation Support – We provide resources and assistance for rhino veterinary interventions and rehabilitation projects.

• Community Engagement & Education – From building schools to developing conservation education materials, we work to create opportunities that reduce poaching pressure and inspire the next generation of wildlife guardians.

• Technology & Gear – We fund and deliver night-vision optics, patrol vehicles, and other specialized equipment that rangers rely on in the field.

• Counter Wildlife Trafficking – We support initiatives that disrupt wildlife trafficking networks beyond reserve borders.
